Liwonde National Park / Malawi / ** A group of elephants in the transportation-box just after wiking-up. ** At the sight of a elephant capture at Liwonde National Park in southern Malawi. In July and August 2016 a massive elephant-translocation of around 500 animals took place in Malawi. Most of the animals are captured at Liwonde, but smaller numbers are also caught at Majete Wildlife reserve and some smaller parks. All of the animals are brought to Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve as there are almost no elephants left. The whole operation is managed and supervised by South African non-profit conservation organization “African Parks”. 15.07.2016 © Julius Schrank / De Volkskrant
